Frequently asked question

Imagine a dating app met a social network and combined to form the most social, inclusive, fun and effective online dating experience ever. Welcome to “the Flock”. Where singles bring their friends to help them find love. On “The Flock”, you can invite friends and family into the site with you (matchmakers?) as hidden users that are just there to support your quest for love. Friends that want to be hidden, are. So no one gets in trouble. Other single friends and even family can join too! Once in, your friends can help you build up your profile, decide on pictures, search and make you matches, give advice during chatting and more. All within the same site/app. Flock’s full social network will amaze you with a news feed of only those local to you, people following, chatting, local geographic groups, blogs, and more. Also, we’re working on an Artificial Intelligence system that will detect and disable scammers and fake profiles quickly, solving the #1 annoyance of users on online dating platforms today. This is epic!

We've been listening to you. We admin multiple Facebook groups for singles in the United States and we've heard the stories. We've heard why you HATE online dating. And we get it. Our mission is to fix it. Not for the hookup, but for the LTR. But we can't do it without YOUR support right now.

Join today for free. There's nothing to lose. We protect all data and destroy all data about you if you leave. We respect your privacy and adhere to GDPR fully. Our founder is an Eagle Scout. We're building this to be effective, not for the money, there's a difference.

The matching system at Flock is a bit different than other apps. We don’t have a matching algorithm (yet). This feels odd to people. Our stance on it is that matching algorithms are just fantasy.. they can't predict anything. So we focussed our energies on building a social network instead where people could interact and meet more naturally in an online space.

Matches are made if your friend forwards you a profile, OR, if someone you liked liked you back. We allow you to just search the listings of singles freely and reach out to them if you fancy.

We may develop matching algorithms soon but we're finishing up other work at the moment. You're just going to have to do your best without them for now. sorry.

The Invite Code system is a pivotal part of the system here at Flock. Every user gets their own unique Invite Code that no one else has. This makes it possible for the user to share their code with other friends/people so if that other person joins the app/site, they can link up. If a user navigates to the Invites page in the website or the Buddy Up screen in the app, they’ll see their invite code and be able to share it out.

The other important part of this though is your name in the site. If you’re name is Deborah but your name in the site is Deb, tell your friend. They need to know what your first name is in Flock to be able to redeem your code. It’s likely after entering Deborah and it not working that they will try “Deb” or “Debbie” but just tell them so they don’t have to guess.

After two users are friends, they can chat, forward profiles with each other, help each other build up their profiles, and more. It just all has to start with the invite code and first name.

If on the app, tap the three bar “hamburger” menu icon in the top right of the main screen and then tap “Buddy Up”. On this screen you will be shown your invite code which you can then share in any manner available on your phone.

On the website click on the top menu item “Invites” and scroll to the bottom of that screen. There you can copy your code to your clipboard to be pasted elsewhere or you can share the code via facebook, twitter, or email.

Share your invite code with them, and your first name as it appears in Flock. Your friends will need to enter your name exactly as it is in our system for the invite code to work. Deb is not the same as Debbie. Once you share your code with your friends, they can sign up either via our apps or website and use your first name and code to become your friend.

After this is done, you will see your friend listed in your friends list.

See "My friend gave me an invite code, what do i do with it?" below for more info on this process.

Most other dating sites generate fake users (sometimes even backed by bots who actually will respond to you) to create a false sense of opportunity. Obviously if you log into a dating site and it’s FULL of beautiful men or women, you’re going to think you hit the jackpot. The truth is these are fake accounts, scammers or bots. It’s the harsh reality of today’s dating app landscape.

We do not do this. We will never do this. We actually are building technology to detect and disable scammers. We see the appeal of doing this, but just can’t.

You see.. “Empty room syndrome” is very real for any kind of community driven app. Getting people to download your app and create an account when just starting out is very very hard. This is why people fill their apps with fakes and bots. If it “looks” full, real users will come.

The problem is.. Real users will also be pissed. They will be angry and feel deceived. It wastes their time, and is just plain crappy to do to someone just looking for love. We don’t feel that’s right.

It’s for this reason and the fact that we haven’t been around for 25 years that you may not see a lot of profiles in your area. Tell your friends and help us grow!

In the app simply tap the share icon from search results or when inside someone’s profile to share it with one of your friends in the app. Once a friend is picked from the list, you will be dropped into a chat message with them, which you can just send, or type something and then send. They will get that message and be able to tap on the user’s profile image to view their profile.

On the website click the share icon on the profile and pick your friend to share with. Below that there will be a text box to write your friend a message. Do this if you like, and then click Send. The system will then ask you if you'd like to go to that chat to talk about the profile, or if you'd like to just keep browsing. It's that simple!

If you are already both in the system and already friends this is simple. Simply go to "My Friends" and click the message icon next to their avatar. Simple. You can also go to "Messages" and click plus to start a new thread and pick them from the list of friends that way.

If you don't already have an account you firstly need to sign up and set up your profile. Then it's as easy as this.

  • Sign up and create your own account. Flockdating.com or apps. Same account.
  • Find your Unique Invite Code under "Invites" or "Buddy Up" menu options
  • Give friends your code.
  • When they sign up they can enter it and become your friend.

  • After this the two of you can message each other (obviously), send each other profiles to "discuss", engage in our social network, interview potential matches for your friends, etc..

Our invite system is exclusive like this so that our community is more free of fake scammers posing to be people's friends.

We are in an ever present battle against dating app scammers. They are abundant let me assure you. I see all kinds here at The Flock. Any little way we can make it harder for them, and maybe a little bit annoying to our real users, we take the trade off to protect you our customers.

That means they would like you to come into the community with them.

Download our apps on your phone ("Flock Dating") or visit our website at flockdating.com to get your access today!

    There you can;

  • Create your account following the prompted screens.
  • Go to the "Friends", or "Received an Invite Code?" Menu Option.
  • Enter your friend's first name, and the invite code that they gave you. Click submit.
  • Success, you win. Fail? Make sure you're spelling your friends name correctly. Or ask them how it's spelled in the site.

  • After this if you go to the Friends screen from the main menu you'll then see your friend. To interact just send a message! After this the two of you can message each other (obviously), send each other profiles to "discuss", engage in our social network, interview potential matches for your friends, etc..
